About Dr. Ackland

Dr. Michael Ackland is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine specialist at New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH). He particularly specializes in revision surgery of the shoulder after failed surgery.

In addition to his surgical work, Dr. Ackland has served as a clinical instructor in Boston, as well as for students from all over the world. He is certified as an expert examiner for the Department of Industrial Accidents. He is the founder of the Ackland Sports Medicine Foundation, a charitable organization that raises and contributes funds to young athletes in need of financial assistance to play sports.

Research and Publications

Dr. Ackland has been published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, and in the Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics, among others. He belongs to several orthopedic societies including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

His clinical interests include arthroscopic reconstruction of the shoulder and knee, cartilage transplants of the knee, and complex revision surgeries.
